Terms and Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy

Purpose

Upon graduation, you become a member of the Glion alumni community and you are invited to activate your account on the alumni online platform where you can easily keep in touch with your fellow Glion alumni and manage your interactions with the School.

The site, available at alumni.glion.edu, is a private professional social network provided by Glion, Institute of Higher Education to allow its members (students and graduates) to support each other, stay connected, facilitate networking, share opportunities, exchange advice, promote education, and support career development and employment. The site and its services are provided by the “AlumnForce” application published by MEVIA, a simplified joint-stock company with a capital of €11,300, registered in the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under number B 501 609 143, with its head office located at 93-97 rue Eugène Caron, 92400 Courbevoie, France.

These terms and conditions of use are intended to govern access to and the conditions of use of the Site. Please read them carefully.

By activating your Account, requesting an Account, registering for an event, or making a purchase on the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted all the present terms and conditions of use.

Definitions

  • Site means the website of Glion, Institute of Higher Education accessible at alumni.glion.edu, providing access to the network’s Services;

  • Users refers to members who can access services via an Account (students, graduates, faculty, recruiters), individuals registering for an event, and Administrators. Service access may be restricted based on Administrator decisions.

  • Administrators are individuals employed or not by Glion, Institute of Higher Education, authorized to use the AlumnForce application Modules for professional or management purposes. They have an Account allowing them to configure Modules and manage User Accounts;

  • Account means a valid account providing access to the Site’s Services;

  • Content refers to any content Users can upload or access from the site, including but not limited to articles, events, directories, profiles containing Personal Data depending on each User’s confidentiality preferences;

  • Personal Data refers to any personal data related to a physical person who is or could be identified;

  • Modules refers to the private professional social network management applications developed by AlumnForce and available as software-as-a-service (SaaS);

  • Privacy Policy refers to the document created by Glion, Institute of Higher Education outlining how User Personal Data is processed and specifying their corresponding rights;

  • Services refers to the provision of Modules and additional services that may be provided upon request by Glion, Institute of Higher Education via AlumnForce, such as setup, support, training, etc.;

Scope of the Terms and Conditions of Use

These terms and conditions of use ("T&Cs") apply to any use of and access to the Site's Services. They are electronically accepted by the User when activating their Account and upon each modification. The T&Cs are accessible at any time on the Site. The professional social network is not publicly accessible. Access is reserved for Users who have accepted the T&Cs and have an Account with login and password.

Users acknowledge that they have read and understood the T&Cs and agree to be bound by them.

Glion, Institute of Higher Education reserves the right to modify the T&Cs at any time by notifying Users via email of the new version, which Users agree to review.

Use of Services

The texts, software, images, videos, data, and any other works present on this site are protected by intellectual property laws. The User agrees not to reproduce them without the express consent of Glion, Institute of Higher Education. The User also agrees not to copy or sell all or part of the Modules and the Site.

The User guarantees Glion, Institute of Higher Education that they hold all necessary rights, including intellectual property rights, over the articles, testimonials, comments, images, and any other data they disclose on this Site, allowing them to grant the rights described herein.

The User expressly and freely consents to their testimonials and comments being reproduced and/or represented in communication materials intended to promote Glion, Institute of Higher Education for the entire legal duration of protection of such content.

Messages and images posted are the responsibility of their author, who agrees to assume full liability for them. In particular, the author guarantees Glion, Institute of Higher Education against any legal action by third parties resulting from the content of their message. The author agrees to cover any resulting compensation or legal costs, including any settlements. Site administrators disclaim any responsibility for user-posted content.

The User is responsible for the Account assigned to them from the activation date. It is their duty to keep their Account credentials confidential and not to share them. The User is solely responsible for the use of their Account and the Content posted through it.

For everyone's safety and well-being, the following are prohibited: messages that are abusive, offensive, obscene, or defamatory; content infringing on others’ rights; violent speech or anything inciting racism, pornography, pedophilia, or crimes; or any misuse of the site for propaganda, commercial prospecting, or politics.

Users may report disturbing messages to the Administrator. The Administrator may delete any message that violates these terms without prior notice.

Glion, Institute of Higher Education reserves the right, without justification, to deny access to the Site to any Visitor or User who fails to comply with these terms or applicable law. If the concerned User believes this is an error, they may contact Glion, Institute of Higher Education. 

Participation in Groups

Users may create limited circles within the network. Groups may be based on a city, region, or professional theme. Each group may have its own articles, events, forums, media, and directories. All groups and their members must comply with these Terms of Use.

Job Postings

Users posting job offers agree not to use prohibited or discriminatory criteria, including the following: origin, gender, morals, sexual orientation or identity, age, family status or pregnancy, genetic characteristics, (non)membership in an ethnicity, nation or race, political opinions, union activities, religious beliefs, physical appearance, etc. (Articles L 1132-1, L 1142-1, L 5531-2 of the French Labor Code)

Personal Data Protection and Privacy Policy

The data controller is Glion, Institute of Higher Education.

Initial User data on the Site originates from Glion, Institute of Higher Education and is necessary to obtain an Account and access services. This includes at least First Name, Last Name, Email, and academic background.

Other data is optionally updated by Users via their profile to showcase their expertise and projects, enabling interaction and professional mobility insights:

- Profile picture

- Introduction

- Personal contact details (phone, mobile, personal email(s), primary and secondary address), date of birth, preferred name

- Current employment and professional contact info (job title, role type, company, industry)

- Previous jobs

- Current status and career goals
- Skills and languages

- Additional training

- Volunteer activities and interests

- Resume (uploaded or generated from the above info)

A User’s identity is publicly visible only if they enable their public profile or CV. Users can activate or deactivate their public profile at any time.

A User’s identity (First Name, Last Name, Photo, City, Country, Job Title, Company) is visible to other Users via the Directory (list and map views) and through any activity or interaction on the platform (articles, events, comments, groups, discussions).

Information collected via user profiles and forms is visible only to other Users of the network (students, alumni, authorized recruiters, admins). Privacy settings allow Users to limit profile data access by user type.

Recruiters or representatives of partner companies must provide the following for account creation:

- Title, First Name, Last Name, Email, Job Role

- Company Name and Address

External visitors registering for an event must provide:

- First Name, Last Name, Email

Depending on the event, additional data may be required:

- Address, Phone, Mobile, Date of Birth, Current Job, Company, Work Address, Work Email

When purchasing services on the Site (event ticket, membership, donation, or subscription), Glion, Institute of Higher Education  will ask for delivery and billing addresses to process the order and provide receipts. Glion, Institute of Higher Education does not store credit card or bank details; payments are handled by Stripe.

When using the Site, we automatically collect personal data about how you use our services. This data is necessary to fulfill our agreement with you, meet legal obligations, and improve the Site's features:
- Geolocation data: collected via IP or mobile GPS for a better user experience. Most devices allow you to manage location settings.
- Usage data: includes page views, searches, purchases, and other activity to improve the Site’s services.
- Device and login data: includes usage details, IP, timestamps, hardware/software info, device IDs, crashes, cookies, etc., to improve performance and detect fraud or security threats.

Users agree to provide accurate and up-to-date Personal Data. We may periodically prompt Users to verify their data.

User data remains the property of the User. In accordance with EU regulations, Users have the following rights:

- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), update, and completeness

- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)

- Right to withdraw consent (Art. 13-2c GDPR)

- Right to restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR)

- Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)

- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

Users may freely edit or delete their own data. They may also request corrections or deletions of data submitted by Glion, Institute of Higher Education. No personal data is collected without the user’s knowledge.

You may exercise these rights by:

  • Editing your profile in the “My Profile” section

  • Emailing: alumni@glion.edu

Glion, Institute of Higher Education is solely authorized to manage the data and commits not to sell or share it with third parties, nor use it for purposes other than providing services through the Site. Glion, Institute of Higher Education may process your personal data during account activation or profile updates.

The Site is protected under intellectual property law, especially regarding database protection. Anyone who creates or shares a database using information from Glion, Institute of Higher Education without consent and in violation of these Terms will face legal consequences.

Glion, Institute of Higher Education reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy in accordance with changes in law or regulation. Changes will be announced on the Site or via email at least thirty days before taking effect.

Data Retention Period

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the intended purposes, in compliance with legal requirements.

Security

Users acknowledge the risks of using the Internet, including the possibility of data interception. Users accept these risks, and Glion, Institute of Higher Education cannot be held liable. Nevertheless, Glion, Institute of Higher Education implements technical and human resources to ensure continuous security, including firewalls and SSL/HTTPS encryption.

Disclaimer

Glion, Institute of Higher Education strives for accuracy and regularly updates the Site. However, errors may occur. Please notify us of any issues so we can correct them. The Administrator will not alter content meaningfully but may relocate content due to incorrect categorization.

Glion, Institute of Higher Education does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Site, especially during maintenance or connectivity issues. It is not liable for technical failures, data loss, or indirect damages related to Site use.

For optimal viewing of this site, we recommend using recent versions of Chrome or Firefox with a screen resolution of at least 1280×768 pixels.
